Why people pay ridiculous prices for designer clothes, handbags and shoes?
Is it the quality of the clothing brand-name really much better than you're willing to pay more for it, or is it more of a status symbol? From what I understand people very rich, their clothes may be designer, but they would never advertise on their clothes, it's considered tacky. Is that a Tommy Hilfiger shirt worth $ 40? What can he do a shirt for $ 10 from K-Mart can not be other than a logo? My husband used to work in a repair shop for shoes and leather, and said that Gucci was actually some of the most cheaply-employment is been here. And I also wonder how some people justify spending $ 600 or more on Louis Vuitton (sp?) Handbags. It is their money and their prerogative, but even if I am rich, I could not bring myself to spend that much money. I always carry a purse I bought on clearance $ 7 at Old Navy five years ago! Without wishing to offend people who do that – I'm just curious why you are doing! 
There are levels of quality clothing, I personally do not like K-Mart or Wal-Mart clothing, it is of very poor quality and do not last long and stains do not come out as well. But there are higher quality clothing such as Michael Jordan, his clothes can last for years and wash and residence built. Status symbols are what they are but the clothes are really quality.
